Obituary for Rich

Richard Glenn Loy

Richard G. Loy, age 56, died November 16, 2009 in Baton Rouge, LA. after a lengthy hospital stay following admittance for severe smoke inhalation injuries from a fire at his home as well as complications of pneumonia.

Rich was born in Midland, MI, the son of Bill and Bette Loy, on May 29, 1953. He graduated from Midland High School in 1971 and moved to Houston TX a few years later. He recently retired from EuroTan International after working there for many years. In 2008, he moved to Louisiana.

Rich met Steven Jerome on December 12, 2000. They began living together shortly thereafter and became inseparable. They were the proud parents of two dogs, Bear (deceased) and JJ and a cockatiel Pepe (deceased).

Rich had a zest for life that he freely shared with his friends and family. He had a great sense of humor, a compassionate nature and a stubbornness to persevere right to the very end.

He is survived by his partner Steven Jerome of Maringouin LA; his father, Bill Loy of North Manchester, IN; his three sisters, Kay (Jerry) Conklin of Midland MI, Pat (Chuck) Miller of South Whitley, IN, Debbi Anderson of Amarillo, TX and several nieces and nephews and the extended Jerome Family. Rich was predeceased by his mother, Bette Loy; his brother, Robert Loy and brother-in-law, Pierce Anderson.

Arrangements for his cremation have been made and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Hartzell United Methodist Church, 15630 Live Oak St, Rosedale LA 70772, Saturday, December 5, 2009. For those interested in expressions of sympathy in Rich’s memory, donations could be made to the organization/charity of the donor’s choice. Rich was always helping people and honoring his memory by continuing to help those less fortunate and blessed than he was seems very fitting.

Memorials and Donations:

Our brother, Richard Glenn Loy, age 56, died November 16, 2009 in Baton Rouge, LA. after a lengthy hospital stay following admittance for severe smoke inhalation injuries as well as complications of pneumonia.

Friends and families that are interested in making donations as an expression of sympathy have a couple of choices.

Rich would have appreciated his memory being kept alive by donations to organizations or charities that help those less fortunate and blessed than he was. Even though Rich never had much for himself, he was always helping other. Rich would be pleased for you to make a donation to any organization of your choice that does this type of work or any individual that has a specific need.

If you prefer to give to an organization, Rich might have suggested any Aids Foundation Group, any group that provides research or support for Dementia or Ovarian Cancer. His father is suffering from Dementia and he lost his mother to Ovarian Cancer in September 2006.
